ESC Job Fair at MCC

32 employers and over 250 prospective employees attended the Martin County Employment Security Commission (ESC) Job Fair, April 19, at Martin Community College.  The fair attracted major employers in the area like Nucor Steel, Martin General Hospital, East Carolina University, and Ann’s House of Nuts, Suddenlink Communications, Bertie Correctional Facility, and Perdue Farms.    Several companies attended the fair in hopes of recruiting MCC graduates in high demand areas like computer support, commercial refrigeration, electrical/electronics, automotive, business, and industrial technology.  Whaley Food Service came all the way from Lexington, South Carolina to recruit MCC graduates to service their equipment in restaurants throughout the southeast.  Agencies like Social Services, and Connect Inc. where also in attendance assisting Martin County residents with educational assistance, workforce development, and career planning. The fair was sponsored by the local ESC Job Link Center in Martin County. The Job Link Center provides free career counseling and job placement for area residents, and maintain a database of jobs available throughout the state at www.ncesc.com
