Equine Instructor

Martin Community College has a position for a full-time (9-month) Equine Instructor. Requirements are a four-year degree in Equine Technology or related field from an accredited college or university; Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Three years of work experience in the equine industry or related work experience. Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs including developing and evaluating Equine Technology curriculum. Strong computer skills are desirable; experience teaching in a community college preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. This position is responsible for planning and teaching classes for Equine Technology program, advising, working with full-time and part-time faculty; and coordinating co-op sites. Math Instructor/Grant Coordinator

This is a full-time position that includes classroom instruction and grant coordinating functions. Instruction will include a variety of pedagogical methods such as lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, and the use of technology. Other related teaching responsibilities include preparation of syllabi, lesson plans, developing and administering tests, maintaining student records, registering, advising and counseling students. Grant responsibilities include budgeting, facilitating group activities and supervising initiatives that focuses on student engagement, retention, and improving student support services. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

The position requires a Master’s degree in Math from a regionally accredited university or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in math.

Preferred Qualifications include experience administering grant initiatives, a minimum of two years teaching experience in a community college, teaching experience in public schools, teaching students from diverse academic, cultural, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds.

Director of Research and Institutional Effectiveness

Responsibilities include planning, research, and evaluation activities for institutional effectiveness and continuous improvement; strategic planning, directing and implementing activities to meet state and accreditation (SACS) requirements; and assisting faculty and departments in developing and evaluating goals and objectives.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • demonstrated competence in statistical analysis
  • understanding of quantitative analysis and survey methodology
  • strong communication and organizational skills
  • excellent computer skills, including standard educational and business software applications

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in relevant field, community college experience, and experience in strategic planning, developing and analyzing surveys, and accreditation processes.

Financial Aid Director

Financial Aid Director position available immediately at Martin Community College. The successful candidate will have responsibility for administering the College's financial aid program, including ensuring program compliance with federal state laws and regulations. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration,counseling, public administration, accounting, or a related field. Strong analytic and computer skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills are also required. Two years of experience in business/financial functions also required.

Welding Instructor

Martin Community College is seeking talented applicants for a part-time Welding Instructor. Applicants should be certified welders through (AWS or NCCER), and and havc a minimum of 3 years of experience in their specific skill area. Applicants without a certificate may be considered based on their years of experience and completion of a welding test.

The instructor will focus on teaching basic foundational skill sets that prepare students to pass the AWS or NCCER credentials exam.

Preference will be given to applicants that have the ability to credentuial students through AWS or NCCER. Preference will also be given to applicants that have prior teaching experience.

Small Engine Repair Instructor at Bertie Correctional Institution

Martin Community College is seeking talented applicants for a Small Engine Repair Instructor for the Bertie Correctional Institute.The position teaches students to diagnose, adjust, repair and overhaul small engines used to power lawn mowers, chain saws, recreational sporting and related equipment.

General requirements include observing students' work, determine training needs of students, and administer, oral, written, or performance test to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.

Requirements also include developing curricula and plan course content and methods of instruction. Job specific skills include teaching students to repair & manitain gasoline engines used to power equipment. Adjust points, valves, carburetors, distributors, and spark plug gaps as well as test & inspect engines.

An Associates Degree from an accredited college with major coursework in Automotove Technology & 6 years of related work experience is required. ASE certification is also required.

Part-time HVAC Instructor

Martin Community College is seeking talented applicants for P/T HVAC Instructor. The HVAC insrtuctor will be required to provide all instruction as well as determine and maintain equipment needs for the program.

Applicants should be a licensed HVAC Contractor. Applicnat should have a minimum of an Assocaite's Degreee in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning with at least one year experience in the industry. Applicants with five years of professional experience may be considered in leui of the degree.

Preference will be given to applicants that have the CFC Certification and have prior teaching experience.

Carpentry Instructor at Bertie Correctional Institution

Martin Community College is seeking talented applicants for a Carpentry Instructor for the Bertie Correctional Institute.The position teaches to erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools.

General requirements include observing students' work, determine training needs of students and administer, oral, written, or performance test to measure progress and evaluate traiing effectiveness.

Requirements also include developing curricula and plan course content and methods of instruction. Job specific skills include teaching students how to read specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dismensions and materials required.

A Bachelor's Degree is preferred from an accredited college with major coursework in Industrial Arts Education or related field & 3 years experience or an Associates Degree in a related field & 7 years experience.

Research Assistant: One-Year Grant Funded Position (Part-time)

Responsibilities include: collecting, analyzing, and reporting data regarding student success initiatives, including but not limited to, Completion by Design, and Achieving the Dream; developing, coordinating, and implementing institutional evaluations; assisting with the program and administrative assessment process; and other projects. This is a part-time, grant funded position.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or education. Experience with quantitative and qualitative research, statistical software (SAS, SPSS), developing and analyzing surveys, and experience within the community college system.

Dental Assisting Instructor

Responsibilities include preparing for and teaching classes (traditional and online); managing dental labs; and supervising clinical instruction. Required qualifications include National Board Dental Assisting Certification; baccalaureate degree (or currently enrolled in a baccalaureate program); coursework/training in educational theory and methodology; CPR certification; and work experience in a dentist's office. Community college teaching experience is preferred.

HVAC Instructor (part-time)

Required qualifications include an associate degree in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning from a regionally accredited college. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in HVAC or a related field; community college teaching experience; one year of industry experience; CFC certification; and a Heating Contractor Group 3 licensure. Teaching assignment is at the Bertie Correctional Institute in Windsor, NC. Teaching assignments may be interrupted and/or cancelled at times due to unscheduled prison activities, and all assignments must be made up to fulfill terms of the contract.

Registrar

Requirements are a bachelor's degree with major coursework in Business Administration, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field; management supervisory experience; knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations and policies related to admission of students and, veterans, and academic records; strong computer skills; and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Community college Registrar experience is preferred.
