Fire and Rescue Academy
A 450-hour comprehensive annual training program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and coursework necessary to complete the North Carolina Firefighter Certification Program. Combines hands-on experience, classroom instruction, and rigorous physical training to meet the standards set by the North Carolina Fire and Rescue Commission for firefighter certification.
Special Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old by program start
- High School Diploma or GED
- Pass a Medical Exam
- Able to lift 75 pounds
- Must not be afraid of heights or confined spaces
- Must be able to wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and facepiece
Course hours: 450
Tuition: $180 (fee waiver available for individuals on a current roster with a fire or fire/rescue department whose responsibilities include fire prevention, inspection, investigation, and/or the protection of life and property through firefighting)
