Martin Community College (MCC) is advancing its commitment to student success and affordability through a new partnership with BibliU, a leading provider of course materials and campus store solutions. This collaboration with BibliU will streamline access to both digital and physical course materials.
As part of the transition, MCC will implement BibliU's Equitable Access (EA) Program, ensuring students enrolled in participating courses receive their required digital course materials by the first day of class. The EA model removes the burden of sourcing digital textbooks, simplifies costs by including them in tuition, and ensures students pay only for the materials they need. Most digital course materials will be seamlessly integrated into Moodle, the college's learning management system, through BibliU's platform.
MCC will continue to operate its physical, on-site student store in Building 1. The Student Store sells merchandise, school supplies, and specialized items for equine and cosmetology. Martin Community College's Student Store can be reached at (252) 789-0242.
Reflecting on the new partnership with MCC, BibliU CEO Dave Sherwood stated, "Martin does what community colleges do best - meeting students where they are and helping them build real careers in the communities they call home. They're training the workforce that keeps eastern North Carolina moving - from equine to public service. We're proud to support that kind of community-driven learning."
"The decision to move to BibliU services focused on the needs of the students in regards to access to textbooks on the first day of class and affordability," says MCC President, Dr. Tabitha Miller. "Through our new partnership, courses utilizing BibliU digital texts provide online access the first day of class for all students, no more worrying if there are still copies available in the bookstore or finding out the book won't be here for two more weeks. The day classes begin, access is available, so students will not fall behind in their studies during those most critical first few weeks of class. We are proud to have found a viable solution that will not only assist with student success but also affordability of textbooks."
By adopting BibliU's EA program and online e-commerce store solution, Martin Community College furthers its mission to uphold the highest academic standards and enhance the student learning experience.
